Even after being a student here for several years, there are
still a few things about the library space and the services provided that I’m
unsure how to do, and things that are available to students. It was not until
today’s class that I was aware that items such as music, law books, government documents,
laptops, study rooms, VCRs, flip cameras, and even markers were there for
checkout. [Because of the construction I avoided the library due to the noise
for a while.]
There are a few things I’m confused on/do not know how to
do. I’ll be honest; I have yet to check a book out so I suppose that would be
my first question. With that, when we check out a book, how many days before it
needs to be returned? If we have late fees how do we go about paying them off?
Other things I was not aware of until today were that on
most days there are librarians on call to help students in finding books and
even offering help in finding articles on the online database.
I’m hoping that in this class I will also learn how to
search for a book within the library and learn a little more about searching
for articles on Galileo and the other online databases. My hope is that it will help me on my future papers for classes.
I totally agree with learning more about how to find/ search for articles on Galileo and any other search engines I am unaware about. That's actually one of the main reasons I even decided to sign up for this class! I would definitely like to become more "advanced" in the resources the library has to offer us students!
